On Friday the 15th of April, we were very lucky to have a professional musicien in our midst!
Véronique Fèvre is a professional clarinettist, playing regularly for large orchestras such as the Opera de Paris and Radio-France.
Véronique introduced 3 different types of clarinette to the children and they watched in awe as she played each of them to demonstrate the different registers. She told us about the origin of the instrument and where her passion came from. The children were engaged and asked questions as to why she chose to take up the clarinette as oposed to other instruments.
The children particumarly enjoyed hearing excerpts from the opera The Magic Flute, which they have been listening to with us at school. Véronique challenged them to a game of ‘Name That Tune’, which they also enjoyed.
After the younger children had left us to continue their activities, I had the priviledge of accompanying Véronique on the piano! We played Castle on a Cloud as the children sang along. A wonderful experience!
Thank you, Véronique!
