« Amy’s Minute » – The Artwork Catwalk Show – 25 juin 2015

Paris Fashion Week eat your heart out!  it’s Boulogne Niki de Saint Phalle Morning, live from La Maison de l’Enfant!

The PM and PS made a menagerie of sculptures! Snakes, birds of paradise and a monster à la Niki, each with their own personal styles. They also made, with the help of Lili and Kasia, 2 beautiful tree sculptures, which they painted and decorated with acryllic pens. They already appreciate the value of teamwork. Often I would see 3 or more of them standing or crouching around a tree decorating it. Along wit their sculptures, the PM and PS also created 2 beautiful pieces of art each. Lili and Kasia are really talented at adapting the theme to the children’s abilities. All their artwork was so beautiful!

The children worked so hard on their artwork inspired by our Niki. Over a period of months, the GS and MS worked on every minuscule detail of their drawings. decorating tiny areas with intricate patterns from their imagination. They often requested to continue with or add to their drawings instead of staying outside longer in the garden. They were really passionate, and you will see, their works of art were made with love!

The children brought in old toys and accessories they no longer needed, so that we could make a collage of colossal proportions!

We covered a canvas in paste and the children placed all the objects they could fir onto it! Unfortunately, the hot weather dried the paste too quickly and not many of the objects stuck…so Véronique added some glue…and some more…but still the toys wouldn’t stick! We hope you appreciate our horizontal art!

The GS and MS made a ‘nana’ each. They are worthy of the Tate Modern, if you ask me!

But they wouldn’t settle for a little sculpture of a nana, oh no, they wanted to make a big one! And we were very happy to oblige by supplying the artists’ materials they needed! Véronique and I sculpted the wire mesh as the children instructed us. Then the children added the plaster, layer by layer. They then painted it white, ready for the art show!

As parents and children arrived for the show, the children took to their acryllic pens and began decorating their big nana. They wanted their audience to watch them in their workshop!

It was time for the catwalk show to begin! Using the tables as a runway, the children showed their individual works of art, one by one and then in a round. The parents cheered and applauded and they children were so so happy to be praised for their achievements!
